Stress is at an all-time high. We live busy lives, our brains are like a hamster on a wheel, and it can feel impossible to slow down and sit with your thoughts.
Enter meditation and mindfulness. It can be intimidating if you’ve never tried it, and even if you’ve sampled a few guided meditations, not knowing why you’re doing it, the benefits, the myths, or if you’re doing it “right” can hold you back.
Join Morgan Craig-Broadwith of Live It Active for an Introduction to Meditation & Mindfulness. With years of practice in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) combined with her background in exercise physiology and psychology, Morgan will lead us in the basics of meditation and mindfulness for everyday women.
She knows what it’s like to lead a busy life with two kiddos, a full-time job and running her side hustle, Live It Active. Meditation and mindfulness are what have made the difference in her life, giving her space, calm, grit and grace. Morgan is a passionate advocate that there is no one-size-fits-all person for meditation – it’s for any personality, attention span, or ability level.
In this self-care Saturday you will:
- Learn a brief history of meditation
- Discuss the benefits of mindfulness
- Talk about the myths associated with this practice
- Meet some new ladies on their own wellness journeys
- Actually try a couple of meditations!
- Go home with a recorded meditation to continue your new practice
You will need to bring:
- Layered clothing
- A water bottle
- A yoga mat
- Any additional tools to make you feel comfortable (cushions, pillow, etc.)
We will be in a seated position for the majority of the class, so know your own body and what you need to feel comfortable. We will adapt for your needs. If you need to lay down, lay down. Listen to your body.
Parking available in the CKE Community Hall lot or free street parking is also available.
